Design panel, Croquis and Colourways!

My space

My colourways
Since my last post, we have created a design panel (top left of top photo) in which we simplify an image down to a pattern. We then used this progression to inspire some croqui patterns (middle of top image). Following this we created one of the patterns in four different colourways. Two changed the tonal values, one is harmonious and one is an "awful" colourway! I have also created a company board inspired by Osbourne and Little, a surface pattern company that fitted in with my theme.

New term, New module!

This term we are studying a module called "Colour in Context". We were given several different themes to choose from and told to collect related imagery. From the resulting moodboard we have now chosen a square to paint in detailed gouache which we will simplify through nine different stages to a surface pattern design. We have also studied the colour wheel and practised mixing the paint to produce a smooth and accurate result.
